As a team with had to choose a historical character in a partnership to research and respond to Obama's State of the Union Speech, and debate as our historical figure would using evidence and experiences supporting our arguments.
martin luther king jr.'s opening statement
I am Martin Luther King Jr, an internationally known activist for the civil rights movement. When examining President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Speech, I would like to bring attention to the following issues stated: How America has changed in the past, Voting rights, Police violence against citizens, and citizen violence against the police.
Furthermore, I would like respond to President Obama’s claim that America has gone through a lot of economical changes throughout our countries history and to make sure everyone gets a fair shot. Based on my experience with unjust laws I firmly believe that every man and woman should have a say in the governments choices because “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”
During one of the most influential campaigns of the civil rights movement, the Birmingham campaign, Protesters amid peaceful demonstrations were violently attacked by high-pressure fire hoses and police dogs because the police wanted to minimize the protesting. White people didn’t agree so they attacked the protesters hoping to put it to an end.
Thus, I agree with Obama’s outlook on the issues I addressed previously.

project reflection
I would have to say a moment that summed up this project for me was the opening statement of Aine Piedad's character. She was completely into character and just by her opening statement I could tell what the man believed in no matter how harsh it was. I think if we had more time throughout this project, we would have been able to know more about our historical figure. I'd have to say though, for the first run, I think we all did a pretty good job. I feel like I know a lot about Martin Luther King Jr. so I felt pretty confident going into the panel, but for the topics we talked about MLK didn't have much to say about and when he did the window to talk was very slim. What I learned for next time is to make sure the facts I bring up to support my claim is 100% true. Over all though, I had fun working on this project.
